If your makeup brushes are long overdue for a deep clean, don’t worry—I’ve got a super easy, natural solution that only uses ingredients you probably already have at home! I filmed the full process in a YouTube Short you can watch here, but I’ll break it down step-by-step below (and give you my honest feedback at the end)!

DIY makeup brush cleaner

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 tbsp dish soap (I used Dawn) 1 tbsp white vinegar 1 tbsp olive oil Warm water 1 tbsp baby wash (for the final gentle cleanse)

Steps:

Mix dish soap, vinegar, and olive oil into warm water. Stir it up in a container. Soak your brushes for a few minutes. Swirl and rinse to break down makeup buildup. Add a bit of baby wash and massage it through for a soft finish. Rinse again with clean water. Let brushes dry bristle-side down on a towel or drying rack.

My results?

The brushes came out so soft and clean! I loved how the olive oil conditioned the bristles. BUT… I didn’t let them dry properly and now they smell a little vinegary—oops! Next time I’ll be sure to air dry longer and maybe add a few drops of essential oil.

Final Tip:

Don’t skip the drying step! Shake out excess water and let them dry for at least 12 hours in a well-ventilated space.
